Pi Alpha Phi Update on Sexual Misconduct

Updated: 4 days ago

July 4, 2020

To our sisters, students, members of the Greek system, the University, and community at-large,

We hear and acknowledge the reports of sexual misconduct, assault, and exploitation by members of Pi Alpha Phi Fraternity.

The National Board of Pi Alpha Phi Fraternity treats the allegations of the victims and survivors with utmost seriousness, and is cooperating with any and all relevant authorities to bring forth justice.

As of July 4th, 2020, Pi Alpha Phi has ordered an indefinite moratorium on all Fraternity activities across all chapters.

No workarounds attempting to circumvent this moratorium, including, but not limited to hosting events in the names of other entities, purchasing private insurance, or underground processes will be tolerated. Sanctions will be issued up to and including expulsion and chapter revocation.

Pi Alpha Phi has engaged the law firm of Manley Burke, LPA to investigate accusations of sexual misconduct. For those with additional information or questions related to these incidents - please call the anonymous hotline at 1-888-668-4293. The Hotline connects to a dedicated voice 24/7 mailbox at Manley Burke, LPA.

Pi Alpha Phi will ask for an independent investigator to audit and investigate our institution, along with a third party firm to review all facets of the organization to ensure enforcement. We vow to eradicate the institutional frameworks that allowed any behavior contrary to our values.

We must hold our Brothers accountable and root out any semblance of the toxic culture that contributed to these incidents. We must re-build the foundational culture of the fraternity. We ask for your patience as we work through the investigation to take the appropriate actions.

To our sisters, students, members of the Greek system, the University, and community at-large,

We apologize deeply for the pain and trauma associated with these incidents. This does not align with the values of our Fraternity, and we need to do better.

Fraternally,

Pi Alpha Phi National Fraternity Board of Directors
