Make Something People Want!

Caviar is an easy way to order food from the best local restaurants in cities across the U.S. Customers can order for immediate delivery or schedule ahead on Caviar’s free mobile app for iOS and Android and on the web. Four alumni of Alpha Chapter (UC Berkeley) worked together to build up Caviar in 2012. In 2015 Caviar was acquired by Square, and in 6 months tripled in order volume and in 2018 Caviar acquired Zesty. Two of the brothers, Shawn Tsao and Richard Din will be speaking at this year’s convention

Shawn joined Pi Alpha Phi as a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley in fall of 2007 and served in many positions including Vice President and Pledge Dad. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Minor in Sustainable Design. He is currently a Co-Founder and General Partner of Beluga Capital which has invested and advised in several food tech startups and restaurants. Besides tech, Shawn is the founding partner of Umai Hospitality Group, a restaurant group that has expanded franchises like The Halal Guys and Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken as well as new concepts like Chick 'N Rice.

Richard joined Pi Alpha Phi's Berkeley chapter in 2007 and graduated in 2008, studying Electrical Engineering and Economics. Since then, he has been investing in and advising other startup companies with his former cofounders.
